JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Nemex Resources has intersected new ironstone mineralisation, similar to that at the Boulere resource area, through reconnaissance drilling across large parts of its flagship Télimélé iron project, in west Guinea.

The drilling results, which followed a successful concept study that confirmed the viability of potential project development, demonstrated discoveries of high-grade ironstone of between 50% and 60% iron up to 3 m thick at four large, new prospects covering approximately 10 km2 at Télimélé.

It is estimated that drilling, to date, had only tested about 25% of the targets over the 1 400 km2 Télimélé licence area and surrounding licence applications.

“This new drilling was successful in confirming that the Télimélé ironstone  continues over very extensive areas of the combined licence and application areas,” said Nemex MD Peter Turner.

The company now planned to start infill drilling in the second half of the year at Gorohi, Kourou and Boulere North, with a view to increasing the resource base of the project to a minimum of 50-million tonnes of between 50% and 60% iron, in line with its regional exploration target.
