TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V-listed explorer Nevada Zinc, formerly Goldspike Exploration, has continued to expand the high-grade, near-surface zinc mineralisation at its Lone Mountain property, in Nevada, with the latest Phase 2 drill holes revealing significant zinc mineralisation in a location more than 200 m from any previous drilling.

The Toronto-based firm reported on Wednesday that the significant zinc mineralisation was likely to correlate directly with the location of a 1 400-m-long surface zinc geochemical anomaly on the Eureka County property.

The Bureau of Land Management had given the company permission to drill in new areas, giving Nevada Zinc the green light to start Phase 3 drilling at various property sites this month.

“These latest drill results, more than 200 m along strike from previously released assay results, considerably expand the footprint of the company’s discovery and definitely show that there is more than one area of zinc mineralisation on the property.

“We have discovered this mineralisation near surface and very close to the 1 400-m-long soil geochemical anomaly, which gives us confidence that we will discover more zinc mineralisation by targeting this anomaly with the Phase 3 drill programme scheduled to start next week,” president and CEO Bruce Durham said.

Nevada Zinc was expected to benefit from rising demand for new sources of zinc to supply the automotive, construction, fertiliser, chemicals, electronics and advanced battery industries.
