Mwana upgrades Zani–Kodo resource to 2.6 Moz

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Mwana Africa has increased the Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource at is Zani–Kodo project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 2.6-million ounces of gold.

This represented a 30% increase on the project’s resource in February 2012 and included a 442 903 oz maiden resource for the new Lelumodi discovery.

Metallurgical testwork and preliminary mine design studies continued in parallel with ongoing drilling to define additional mineral resource at Lelumodi and the Kodo area, Mwana said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Our exploration drilling at Zani–Kodo continues to significantly increase the gold resource with each drill campaign, supporting our philosophy to focus on the projects most likely to deliver real shareholder value in the long term and aggressively pursue these targets,” Mwana CEO Kalaa Mpinga commented.
