Multotec Canada, a leading supplier of mineral processing equipment, has concluded an agreement with Siebtechnik GmbH, the technology center for Siebtechnik Tema in Germany to exclusively provide the German company’s range of centrifuge products to the mining; chemicals; water treatment; and food industries in Canada.

Under the agreement – effective from 1 January 2023 – Multotec Canada will expand the Siebtechnik footprint and installation base in Canada by securing new customers and servicing existing ones through the supply of centrifuge solutions to capital projects as well as the distribution of spare parts.

Rejean Foisy, General Manager at Multotec Canada, explains that the company will focus heavily on the mining industry, where it has an established presence, and will also drive the expansion of Siebtechnik’s presence in the chemical and food sectors.

“Initially, we will focus specifically on lithium and potash mining projects, since the current uptake of electric vehicles has seen a significant increase in the demand for lithium in Canada,” he says.

Local support and expertise

Multotec Canada will not only act as an exclusive distribution agent for  Siebtechnik’s line of centrifuge solutions but will also leverage its vast in-house technical expertise to provide local assistance to customers. This will be done through a team of metallurgists, and mechanical and chemical engineers across Multotec Canada’s three branches in Montreal Vancouver, and Edmonton.

He adds that customers in Canada will benefit from Multotec’s experience and knowledge of the mining industry, with additional product support initially coming from Siebtechnik teams in Germany and the USA.

“We have an existing infrastructure and ready to service our Siebtechnik GmbH customers in terms of equipment selection and design, installation, as well as commercial capabilities (quoting, specification, contracts). We are looking to introduce a dedicated service and maintenance team in the very near future. Furthermore, customers will have access to technical experts from Multotec’s global network.”

For clients who have specifically signed the exclusive customer agreement, Multotec Canada will provide them with access to an agreed range of spares out of two warehouses in Montreal and Edmonton or in the Siebtechnik Tema USA facility. This will ensure fast access to products.

Says Dr. Reinhard Scholtz, MD for Siebtechnik GbmH Germany, “Multotec Canada’s well-established relationships with mining and engineering houses across Canada made the company our preferred choice. Their experience, expertise, knowledge, and commitment to after-sales service and leadership in mineral processing equipment all contributed to their appointment as exclusive partner to supply our centrifuges to businesses in Canada.”

Expanding the product portfolio

The exclusive agreement, Foisy adds, provides Multotec Canada with scope to grow its market share and expand its product portfolio, as it aims to become entrenched in a wide variety of centrifuge projects in the country. The company’s objective is to become a strategic partner to customers that are building new facilities, brownfield projects or expanding their existing plant capacities.

“We are a group of motivated, proactive and supportive industry experts that will bring technical and commercial expertise to our customers. This is what sets us apart from many of our competitors who do not offer the technical know-how and after-sales services that we can,” he concludes.
