PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Australian oil and gas major Woodside has awarded a A$50-million integrated fleet contract to ASX-listed MMA Offshore.

The contract would see MMA provide three vessels to support Woodside’s offshore North West Shelf, Pluto and AusOil assets.

“The significance of the contract in the current competitive market cannot be overstated,” MD Jeff Weber said on Tuesday.

“There is enormous pressure on the offshore marine industry to achieve sustainable cost positions without compromising quality operations. The award of this contract is an endorsement of our ability to support world-class operators in this challenging economic time and to provide cost-effective solutions.”

The contract was for a firm period plus a number of options, which, if all were exercised, would increase the contract value to around A$110-million.
