Mining software and services provider Maptek has acquired mine planning consultancy Orelogy’s Evorelution strategic openpit mine scheduling set of software which, as of this month, will be developed and marketed as the Vulcan Open Pit Scheduler.

The Evorelution solution delivers practical, high-value schedules cost effectively and up to ten times faster than other methods, says Orelogy MD Steve Craig.

The solution rapidly assesses thousands of schedule scenarios to present users with the best options. Craig explains that Evorelution uses a single data set at the block level, without coarse averaging, for all planning horizons. It also considers dynamic haulage optimisation to reduce costs.

Maptek will deliver Evorelution’s advanced strategic mine scheduling optimisation to the global mining industry, augmenting geological modelling and mine design functionality within the company’s Vulcan software range, says Maptek GM Peter Johnson.

“Orelogy has created a next- generation scheduling and optimisation solution in Evorelution and Maptek is pleased to partner with them,” he says.

Craig adds that Maptek’s acquisition of Evorelution has validated the company’s belief that it has a world-class scheduling solution.

Orelogy will continue to offer specialist mine planning services to customers globally, and will apply Evorelution and Maptek’s Vulcan in its consulting work.

Orelogy developed and delivered Evorelution successfully from its Perth head office.
