JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed West African Minerals (WAFM) on Wednesday announced the appointment of company president Brad Mills as executive chairperson with immediate effect.

Mills, who had been CEO of platinum producer Lonmin from 2004 to 2008, had first joined the WAFM board in March 2012 as executive vice-chairperson.

Mills was also MD of private mine investment company Plinian Capital and CEO of Canada-based mining company Mandalay Resources.

“Mills, with extensive mining experience, has taken the chair as the company builds on its recent exploration success,” WAFM said.

Meanwhile, WAFM also announced that nonexecutive director Jim Mellon would remain on the company’s board, while CFO Denham Eke would leave the board.

Both Mellon and Eke had accordingly relinquished their recent share option awards.
