ASX-listed Lucapa Diamond Company and its partners Endiama and Rosas & Petalas have recovered a 235 ct diamond at their Lulo mine, in Angola.

Not only is it the second-largest diamond to be recovered at the mine since operations started in 2015, but it follows only a week after the recovery of a 208 ct diamond at the mine.

The 235 ct diamond was recovered from Mining Block 550, which is immediately south of Mining Block 19, an area which has yielded eight diamonds weighing more than 100 ct.

It is the fortieth diamond weighing more than 100 ct and the fourth cdiamond weighing more than 200 ct to be recovered at Lulo.

“Lulo continues to demonstrate it is a prolific producer of large diamonds. To unearth three +100 ct diamonds – with two being over 200 ct – in such a short space of time from different areas of the concession, makes us more determined to find the primary source, by dedicating even more resources to the exploration programme,” comments Lucapa MD Nick Selby.

The latest find is expected to be included in a special tender with the 208 ct diamond and a 123 ct diamond recovered at Lulo in October.
