Canadian miner Lucara Diamond Corporation has recovered a 166 ct diamond from the Karowe diamond mine, in Botswana.

The Type IIa diamond was recovered in the Coarse X-Ray Transmission unit at Karowe from direct milling of ore sourced from the South lobe of the mine.

Lucara continues to recover large, high-quality diamonds from the Karowe mine. CEO William Lamb says this diamond is the 328th diamond weighing more than 100 ct since the company started mining in 2012.

“The latest recovery further supports the economic rationale for investing in the underground expansion project that will extend the Karowe mine life to at least 2040,” he adds.
