ASX-listed Lincoln Minerals has accelerated its plan to update the 35 000 t/y concentrate feasibility study for its Kookaburra Gully graphite project (KGGP), as the company looks set to achieve its resource growth objective faster than planned.

The prefeasiblity study will consider a project producing 60 000 t/y to 100 000 t/y of concentrate.

This level of output, CEO Jonathon Trewartha, said on Tuesday, would be more attractive to potential offtake partners, as well as allowing submission of Lincoln’s final programme for environment protection and rehabilitation, enabling finalisation of the approvals required for advancement of project development.

In the past three months, Lincoln had increased the resource at KGGP by 87%. Trewartha said that the company was confident this additional drilling, combined with drilling completed in 2017 but not previously included in the resource calculation, should deliver the firm’s resource growth objective, which was to double the resource from the September 2023 level.

“Pleasingly, this outcome looks set to be achieved in six months, far faster than originally planned, which is a testament to the quality of the KGGP mineralisation,” said Trewartha.

The December 2023 resource for KGGP is 12.26-million tonnes at 7.31% total graphitic carbon.
