BEKA Schréder is proud to have supplied the LED lighting solution for the new Netcare Alberton Hospital, located in the south of Johannesburg.

Due to capacity constraints which made it impossible to accommodate the growing demand for private hospital care in the area, and the need for necessary upgrades to the Netcare Union and Netcare Clinton hospitals, Netcare had decided to merge the two hospitals into one flagship facility and relocate it to a better positioned site. Out of this need, the new ultra-modern Netcare Alberton Hospital was built and completed in 2022. The 427-bed hospital in the Newmarket development precinct is conveniently located for residents of the greater Alberton area and is also easily accessible for patients from further afield.

This state-of the-art healthcare facility required a high-quality lighting solution. BEKA Schréder has supplied the LED lighting for the reception and parking areas. All luminaires have been designed and manufactured in South Africa, taking the continent’s harsh environmental conditions into account, thus ensuring a long product lifetime. BFBA Consulting Engineers specified these luminaires for their reliable performance, energy efficiency, no need for relamping or regular maintenance, and a 3- to 5-year warranty.

Reception area

The beautifully designed big entrance hall and staircase in the reception area is illuminated by LEDDISK decorative suspended LED pendant luminaires. The LEDDISK is the ideal luminaire for indoor commercial facilities, meeting light level requirements with an aesthetic design, limited glare and a high light output if needed. The LEDDISK offers substantial energy savings compared to any conventional pendant luminaire in its class, and with a higher performance.

Further general area lighting is provided by the BEKA SERIES 20 square LED bulkhead. This decorative bulkhead has been manufactured from high-quality materials. The diffuser offers excellent vandal resistance, is highly translucent and will not discolour even when subjected to the harshest UV environments, thus ensuring a long-lasting lighting solution.

Parking area

KAZELLE LED post tops illuminate the parking area of the hospital. The KAZELLE provides a sustainable lighting solution which dramatically reduces energy consumption and improves visual comfort for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. The KAZELLE emits a pleasant, glare-free light and offers a reliable, efficient, discreet and vandal-resistant lighting solution.

The LEDLUME-MIDI has been installed along the roads on the hospital grounds. The LEDLUME range offers optimised photometrical performance with a minimum total cost of ownership. The great variety of high-performance optics optimises the photometric distribution for each specific application to achieve minimum energy consumption.

The LEDLUME range offers flexible combinations of LED modules, a choice of currents and dimming options to further maximise energy savings and provide the most cost-effective solution.
