Kudz Ze Kayah silver/zinc project – ABM mine, Canada
Name of the Project
Kudz Ze Kayah silver/zinc project – ABM mine.
Location
The Finlayson Lake district, in the Yukon, in Canada. The region is known to contain economically significant volcanic-hosted massive sulphide deposits of copper, lead, zinc, gold and silver.
Project Owner/s
BMC Minerals.
Project Description
The proposed development and operation of the ABM mine is based on an ore reserve of 15.7-million tonnes grading 5.8% zinc, 1.7% lead, 0.9% copper, 138 g/t silver and 1.3 g/t gold mined using cut (89%) and underground (11%) methods.
Ore will be processed into separate copper, high precious metal and zinc concentrates through sequential flotation through a nominal two-million-tonne-year processing plant.
ABM mine production targets of about 200 000 t of dry zinc concentrate, 60 000 t of dry copper concentrate and 50 000 t of dry high precious concentrate are expected for every year of full production after commissioning, generating an estimated total of 786 000 t of zinc, 100 200 t of copper, 195 300 t of lead, 59.8-million ounces of silver and 431 000 oz of gold, to be produced in concentrates from the current ore reserve.
The proposed mine life, based on the ore reserve, is about ten years, including prestrip and operation, but excluding construction, closure, reclamation and monitoring.
Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to directly employ more than 400 people during the construction and production phases.
Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to take two years to complete.
Latest Developments
The Yukon and Canadian governments issued a positive decision regarding the environmental- and socioeconomic-impact assessment for development of the proposed ABM mine in June 2022.
The decision allows for the project to enter the regulatory process to obtain the necessary licences and permits for construction and operation of the mine.
Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
