PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Vector Resources has reported a maiden inferred Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 6.96-million tonnes at its Kabotshome gold prospect, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Grading 1.9 g/t gold, the prospect, which forms part of the greater Maniema gold project, is estimated to host 421 000 oz of gold.

Vector told shareholders on Tuesday that the resource was determined following an extensive review and verification of historical exploration work, a geological database and certified sampling and testwork documentation.

Further detailed resource modelling and estimation work were now ongoing at the Kabotshome prospect, with the aim of increasing the resource size and upgrading confidence levels.

The Maniema project comprises seven granted exploration licences covering some 500 km2. The project contains five main prospects, including Kabotshome, which is the most advanced.
