JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South African platinum major Impala Platinum (Implats) suspended operations at 14 Shaft in Rustenburg on Monday, after a fall-of-ground incident claimed two lives.

Implats said that proto teams were at the accident scene to search for seven unaccounted employees.

CEO David Brown said that Implats was “deeply shocked” by the incident, which occurred at around midday.
