JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South Africa-based gold-miner Gold Fields has appointed three more executives to its group executive team.

Peter Turner has been appointed as executive vice-president (VP) and head of the West Africa region, Juan Luis (Juancho) Kruger as the executive VP and head of operations for South America and Ben Zikmundovsky as executive VP and head of international capital projects and international technical services.

“With these three executive appointments, the Gold Fields executive team is now complete and the senior leadership [is] in place to progress Gold Fields’ new regionalisation strategy,” CEO Nick Holland said in a statement on Tuesday.

The gold-miner announced in March that it would reorganise and “strengthen” its executive team, in light of its growing global footprint.

At the time, it appointed Glenn Baldwin to head up the Australasia region as executive VP and head of the region.

It then started a recruitment drive to fill the new regional positions it had established.

Turner and Kruger were expected to work with the business development and exploration teams to grow production in each of the regions to one-million ounces of gold a year within four years.

Zikmundovsky’s position was seen as a key appointment, given Gold Fields’ “extensive growth pipeline” and the number of advanced stage projects it was hoping to bring to account within the next five years, stated Holland.
