National Treasury is set to undertake a forensic investigation into the Tegeta report which it handed over to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa).

The investigation deals with the processes related to coal supply contracts awarded to Gupta-linked Tegeta Exploration and Resources by State-owned power utility Eskom.

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba on Friday said the director-general had signed off on the investigation on July 26.

“Treasury has reviewed the enforceability of the report and the report sent to Scopa still stands,” he said in a statement.

Gigaba said governance and accountability at State-owned enterprises remained a priority.
