At this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba, acQuire Technology Solutions will showcase the GIM Suite, its Geoscientific Information Management (GIM) Solution to capture, manage and deliver geoscientific observations and measurements in real time.

“Mining Indaba has always been the showcase event for our region, acting as a conduit for new business opportunities, and a launch pad for new products and solutions in the region,” says acQuire Africa and Europe business development manager, Alex Gardiner.

This year, acQuire will also present their information management software in collaboration with industrial equipment major Atlas Copco. Both companies have announced a partnership to integrate acQuire’s GIM Suite with Atlas Copco’s OREAlyzer technology.
“Analysing the commodity with information taken directly from the drill rig speeds up the entire process and makes it more efficient. The result is an immediate understanding of the potential of a borehole that helps geologists and business managers make more effective decisions,” explains Gardiner.

acQuire has also entered into a collaboration partnership with Corescan. By utilising high-resolution images mapped to drill holes, Geoscience professionals are set to enjoy unmatched performance and accessibility with optimal data quality.
“Using high-resolution images mapped to drill holes, geoscience professionals can improve their assessments and accessibility to high-quality data, with the outcome to search, discover and manage quality data rapidly.”

“2015 will be a busy year for acQuire. We have scheduled an upgrade and a new version release for the GIM Suite that will provide functional enhancements to the acQuire 4 component and a significant upgrade to the acQuire Neo component. “

Gardiner says Mining Indaba delegates have an opportunity to learn about the components that comprise the GIM Suite and how the acQuire solution can support geoscientists to turn their data into a reliable and durable business asset.

“This year we offer one-on-one technology consultations to Mining Indaba delegates when they contact us before the conference and pre-book a demonstration with us.”

He adds that, while the African mining sector is facing numerous structural and labour challenges, the continent remains an important sector for the mining industry and acQuire is hoping to see a renewed investment focus for mining in Africa in 2015.

“acQuire operates with a sustainable business philosophy and is accustomed to weathering the continual fluctuations in the natural resources industry. We have built strong strategic partnerships throughout 2014. Our customers benefit greatly by getting the most out of their technology investments now and in the future,” he notes.

To this end, acQuire has implemented its ‘Succession of Leadership’ strategy, which involves the structured handover of pivotal leadership roles in the organisation to the next generation of acQuire leaders.

“Focused on the continued renewal and long-term resilience of acQuire, these planned leadership changes are the result of a ‘habit to handover’; enabling the employee-owned business to thrive in any economic climate,” explains Gardiner.

acQuire has attended the Mining Indaba every year since 2009 and Gardiner says that, as it is a big conference, preparation is key and delegates should attend as many networking events as possible to develop good relationships.

“The Mining Thought Leadership sessions and keynote speakers are highlights. Both sessions offer opportunities to hear insights from the natural resources industry leaders.”

The Investing in African Mining Indaba will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 9 to 12.
