JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Iron-ore miner Fortescue Metals has appointed CFO Stephen Pearce to its board as an executive director.

Pearce had been an integral part of the executive management team since his appointment as CFO in March 2010, group chairperson Andrew Forrest said in a statement on Tuesday.

“We are delighted to welcome Stephen to Fortescue’s board of directors. Stephen has the energy, drive and passion that are intrinsic to Fortescue. Stephen’s understanding of international finance and his leadership have been fundamental to Fortescue’s growth and robust financial position,” he commented.
