Vancouver-based Flying Nickel has announced an inaugural 405 020 oz measured and indicated mineral resource at its Minago nickel and platinum group metals (PGMs) project in Manitoba’s Thompson nickel belt.

The mineral resource estimate (MRE), prepared by Mercator Geological Services, includes a total measured and indicated mineral resource of 125 700 oz of platinum, 279 330 oz of palladium and 689.53-million pounds of nickel.

“This is an outstanding MRE update with an inaugural PGMs resource and a 42% increase in the M&I nickel in-pit mineral resource estimate (MRE). Those two factors will be studied further in Minago’s ongoing feasibility study. In a short time under Flying Nickel’s watch, the Minago project is now known for both its nickel and PGMs endowment,” commented CEO John Lee.

The updated MRE results in a 41.95% increase in the in-pit resource to 531.31-million pounds of nickel over the previous MRE published in July 2021. The increase is attributed to the 2022 drill programme.
