For many companies involved in manufacturing, mining and engineering, a chance to see and be seen at the biennial Electra Mining Africa exhibition is of great strategic importance. Well-known local manufacturer of gratings, stair treads, pressed floors and safety handrails, Vital Engineering, is no exception. The company has had a presence at the exhibition for the past decade, and is especially looking forward to Electra Mining 2014. “We have some exciting new products for the power generation, mining, food and beverage, materials handling, civil and structural industries; and we are excited to be able to showcase them at this year’s Electra Mining,” says Dodds Pringle, Managing Director of Vital Engineering.

For Pringle, Electra Mining presents an invaluable opportunity for existing and new clients to experience the material benefits of the company’s product range first-hand. “To see, as well to experience the touch and feel of our superior products is a powerful introduction to what we do. In many cases, potential customers are not aware of the wealth of innovative products available: which go far above and beyond the more stereotyped ideas many have of handrails or grating. We are looking forward to showcasing some new solutions which offer many benefits, including lower maintenance cycle times, quicker installation, real cost savings and higher performance options, among other compelling features,” says Pringle. Vital Engineering, together with Angus McLeod, has specialised in the manufacturing of all types of gratings, treads and safety handrails since 1939. Under the brand names of Vitagrid® and Maclock®, the company supplies power plants, petrochemical plants, materials handling projects, mining, water treatment plants and civil and structural engineering projects both locally and in pan-Africa.

“As leaders in our industry, our client base has come to expect constant developments and innovative solutions from Vital Engineering. This year we intend exceeding those expectations.  We have an array of new products and materials which are designed to meet the growing demand for cost-effective solutions, which do not compromise on safety and quality.” Electra Mining Africa, the largest exhibition of its kind in the southern hemisphere, also offers a wealth of opportunities to interact with clients. “It presents a vitally important opportunity to meet and greet the wide diversity of clients our industry serves, as well as to consolidate existing relationships and develop new ones,” Pringle notes. “The value of such an opportunity to share our wealth of products is significant.” The demand for hard-wearing, versatile materials which deliver optimum safety - particularly in the mining sector - has resulted in Vital Engineering’s range of quality products. These are manufactured in a variety of materials, including galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium, depending on factors such as corrosion and cost.  One of the company’s latest offerings is its range of low-maintenance moulded fibreglass gratings. This range is particularly suitable for harsh corrosive environments and where exposure to theft is a concern.

“We are planning a number of live demonstrations at regular intervals during the exhibition, to practically illustrate to clients how significant savings can be made through informed decisions. In addition, we intend to showcase some of our updated technical information, as well as video presentations on numerous aspects of our product offerings,” says Pringle. “We are particularly looking forward to this year’s exhibition. We have made significant progress recently in identifying new solutions, materials and finishes to suit our diverse customer base. We are fully prepared and poised to now launch these to our clients, so they can experience both increased performance and cost-savings,” he concludes.
