JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Empire Resources on Tuesday reported that it expected to start mine development at its 21 700 oz Penny’s Find gold mine, in Western Australia, in six weeks.

The company commissioned Kalgoorlie-based Cardno Spectrum Surveyors to work on the road realignment required at the project, located 50 km north-east of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

The miner said in a statement that the footprint of the designed openpit targeted for first mining later this year necessitated the realignment and that the new road was expected to be completed in less than six weeks.

On completion of the road diversion, the company expected mine development at its 60%-owned project to start immediately.

The mine currently holds a probable reserve of 146 000 t at 4.62 g/t gold.
