Project management company DRA Group and diversified engineering company ELB Group on Wednesday announced a collaboration that would aim to deliver large-scale materials-handling solutions for African projects.

The ARDBEL joint venture, in which both parties had equal shareholding, would enable ELB and DRA to extend their current capabilities and offerings into large-scale materials-handling projects by leveraging the experience of both companies.

“This collaboration enables DRA to extend its services along the mining value chain, thus furthering its goal of providing a ‘pit to port’ engineering solution that offers an attractive benefit to new mine developers in Africa,” said DRA Group CEO Paul Thomson.

He added that, with its significant infrastructural development programmes and mineral resources, the continent’s large-scale materials-handling requirements were growing exponentially.

ELB and DRA said they were optimistic about the potential for growth offered by the collaboration in terms of further extending their ‘home market’ into the rest of Africa, with both companies already actively involved in more than 20 countries on the continent.
