PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Desert Mines and Metals has launched a scoping study on its Daehwa molybdenum/tungsten project, in South Korea.

The study would consider trial mining and bulk sampling options, as well as the optimal strategy for reaccessing historic underground workings, and potential investment or offtake arrangements with Korean partners.

The scoping study would also look at early mine development opportunities, infrastructure requirements and community and government liaison.

“We are very encouraged by the rapid progress we are making in South Korea with our Daehwa project, and the start of the scoping study will help direct our ongoing exploration and mine development options,” said MD Chris Rashleigh.

He noted that Desert had already received several expressions of interest regarding financing and offtake, with the company planning to progress these discussions along with the scoping study.

The scoping study would likely be completed by the end of December.

Desert was granted mining permission at Daehwa in August this year.
