Cokal appoints new BBM mining contractor

Australia-listed Cokal has appointed Levine Latersia Baratama (LLB) as its primary mining contractor at the Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) metallurgical coal mine, in Indonesia, replacing CBQ.

In a statement to the stock exchange, Cokal said it had replaced CBQ, owing to its inability to perform, which had resulted in missed production targets for BBM.

The mining fleet from LLB is currently arriving at the Batu Tuhup jetty, from where it will be transported using barges.

The first cut from LLB is expected by December 10, following the commissioning at the BBM mine site.

The water levels are currently low, given a delayed start to the monsoon season, but sporadic rainfalls are slowly starting to lift water levels. As soon as water levels increase, customers’ barges will collect coal from the jetty.
