Industry body Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) last month inaugurated its new president, Sugen Pillay, for the next two years.

He succeeds Neresh Pather.

Pillay serves as MD of Zitholele Consulting and has more than 20 years’ experience in the design and implementation of projects that cover most facets of civil engineering.

CESA said its theme for 2020 is ‘A Time for Reflection, Renewal and Regeneration’.

Meanwhile, the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (Saice) has inaugurated its new president, Mopilwane Fana Marutla.

Marutla is the 117th person to serve as the organisation’s president since its establishment in 1903. He previously served as Saice’s railway and harbour division chairperson.

He is a civil engineer with 22 years’ experience in railway engineering and infrastructure design and maintenance, as well as project management and business case development.

Marutla previously served as business development head at GIBB Engineering & Architecture and also worked at Transnet Freight Rail for 17 years.
