Cascavel remains on track for March quarter production
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold developer Orinoco Gold remained on track to produce its first gold at the Cascavel mine, in Brazil, later this quarter.
Construction of the Cascavel crushing circuit would be completed in Brazil in the first half of January, and all remaining equipment was now in the country, with the company hoping to have the equipment on-site by the end of January.
Commissioning of the Cascavel project was expected to start in late February or early March.
“It has been pleasing to see the significant effort and commitment of our entire team as we close in on this crucial period for Orinoco, during which we will make the all-important transition from explorer to producer,” said Orinoco MD Mark Papendieck.
“All components of the project are progressing on track and our confidence in the high-grade nature of the orebody continues to grow as mine development progresses.”
Orinoco was hoping to increase production at Cascavel from the planned start-up rate of 40 000 t/y to more than 60 000 t/y by the December quarter.
