PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Australian junior Beacon Minerals on Tuesday announced that the company had completed mining operations at its Halleys East gold mine, in Western Australia.

The mine produced its first gold in May last year.

Beacon told shareholders that the cartage of broken ore stocks from the mine would continue, with some 16 000 t of broken ore stocks currently on hand, which would be processed in a milling campaign set to start in late June.

By the end of the March quarter, Beacon’s broken ore stocks reached 25 295 t, at an average head grade of 11.02 g/t gold, for a net estimated recovery of 7 619 oz.

The company meanwhile said that rehabilitation work at Halleys East has started, with surplus hire equipment being demobilised as the operation was wound down.
