Global auditing and consulting firm Mazars participated in guest speaker sessions and hosted a joint event for more than 100 guests with financial services company Investec at this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba, held in May.

“We found the Indaba to be a great opportunity to interact with many key players and to establish the Mazars brand within the mining industry,” says Mazars South Africa audit partner Thinus de Vries.

The firm also aimed to introduce its service offering, including auditing, tax, accounting and advisory, to players in the mining industry, with “great feedback” received from potential new clients.

De Vries adds that mining is a specialised environment from an operational, technical and financial viewpoint, thus making it advantageous for clients to have interacted with firms with experience in the industry.

“Our objectives were to interact with our already established client base and to get to know future mining clients, as well as to ensure that we keep up to date and understand the trends in mining. Highlights included having the Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and dignitaries from various African countries at our Mazars/Investec event,” concludes De Vries.
