AngloGold halts activities at Savuka shaft following fatalities

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – AngloGold Ashanti has suspended activities at its Savuka shaft, following the death of two employees on Saturday.

The employees were injured in a series of seismic events, the largest of which measured 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The Department of Mineral Resources would start an inspection on Tuesday.
