JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Diversified miner Anglo American has announced the retirement of human resources and public affairs group director Phil Mitchell, saying it would now begin the search for his successor.

Anglo American corporate communications group director Anik Michaud would, in the meantime, perform a revised function as corporate relations group director that would include taking control of corporate, government and social communication.

“Phil Mitchell joined Anglo American in 2014 and we respect his decision to take a step back.

“In his short time with us, Phil’s deep understanding and experience of the mining industry has helped us to formulate our organisational design to drive greater effectiveness that we are implementing across the group. We wish him well for the future,” said CEO Mark Cutifani.
