JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Ambatovy nickel and cobalt mine, in Madagascar, in which TSX-listed Sherritt International owns a 40% interest, produced 4 006 t of nickel and 283 t of cobalt in November.

Production for the month was at about 81% of nameplate capacity.

Sherritt’s share of the production was 1 602 t of nickel and 113 t of cobalt.

Further, ore throughput in the pressure acid leach circuit was 407 870 t on a 100% basis or about 84% of nameplate capacity.

Given that the Ambatovy mine continued to perform at 80% to 90% of capacity, Sherritt would stop publishing monthly production updates after December and would revert to reporting its production and financial results on a quarterly basis.

The Ambatovy mine is a joint venture with Sumitomo, which holds a 32.5% interest, and Korea Resources, which holds a 27.5% interest.
