PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed explorer Alara Resources is considering an 800 000 t/y operation in its feasibility study for a copper-gold project, in Oman.

The project would likely entail staged development, with Alara saying that, while further geotechnical assessment was being carried out, the current mine plan indicated a three-stage mine development.

Some 9.37-million tonnes of in-pit resource were expected to provide fodder for an initial 11-year mine life, with higher-grade ore expected in the first seven to eight years of operation.

Processing design criteria had largely been confirmed and Alara’s assessment of civil, structural and electrical work would be completed by the end of October.

The feasibility study was expected before year-end.
