PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Building works have started at the Wickepin kaolin project, in Western Australia, ASX-listed WA Kaolin reported on Friday.

“Our 2021 work programme has already commenced in earnest with the arrival of the crew and equipment to proceed with the initial building works of the kaolin production plant,” said CEO Andrew Sorensen.

“At this point we are on track to commence the build in February and will provide regular updates to the market as we proceed.”

The Wickepin project is estimated to host a mineral resource of some 644.5-million tonnes of high grade premium kaolinised granite, and the project is expected to produce at a rate of 400 000 t/y from 2023, and would have a mine life of some 30 years.
