Canadian advanced-stage development and exploration company MAG Silver has appointed Peter Barnes as chairperson of its board.
Barnes first joined the board in late 2012 and has since chaired various committees for MAG, including the audit committee and the governance and nomination committee.
He has extensive experience in the metals and mining industry, and in 2004, was cofounder of Wheaton Precious Metals and CEO from 2006 to 2011, and prior to that was CFO of Goldcorp from 2005 to 2006.
Barnes replaces Jonathan Rubenstein who did not run for re-election at the company’s annual general and special meeting held June 18.
