PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Westgold Resources has warned of an estimated 2 500 oz shortfall in quarterly production from the Meekatharra gold operation, in Western Australia, after routine maintenance uncovered issues in the processing plant.

The ASX-listed miner told shareholders that during routine maintenance at the processing plant issues with the white metal bearings on the semi-autogenous grinding mill were discovered.

While fitting a replacement bearing, further issues were encountered.

The Bluebird processing plant has now been off line for five days, and it is expected to take a further one to two days to rectify the issue.
