It certainly won’t last forever, but there is definitely a new mood of cooperation and optimism in the air since Cyril Ramaphosa became the fifth President of South Africa’s democratic era. His decision to align his nascent Presidency with that of the country’s greatest statesman, Nelson Mandela, is both inspired and inspiring. As was his rendering of Bra Hugh Masekela’s Thuma Mina in his much-praised State of the Naiton address. Most South Africans now truly “wanna lend a hand”.
