PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Rare earths developer Vital Metals is ramping up rare earths production at its Nechalacho project, in Canada.

Vital in July produced its first rare earth product from the project, where it is aiming to produce a minimum of 5 000 t of contained rare earth oxide by 2025, and has signed an offtake agreement with REEtec for Stage 1 production with the supply of 1 000 t/y for an initial five-year period.

“We are really pleased with the way our operations are ramping up at Nechalacho, and the exciting developments we’ve made with ore sorter operation and mineralisation in the North T pit wall during July,” MD Geoff Atkins said.

The ore sorter is successfully producing high-grade rare earth oxide concentrate, and Vital has now completed its first month of rare earths production at the project.
