Name of the Mine
Verninskoye mine.
Location
Irkutsk region, Eastern Siberia, Russia.

Polyus.
Brief Description
A gold mine in the historical gold mining area of Bodaybo.
Brief History
The development of the mine started in 2006 and was commissioned in December 2011.
Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.
Secondary Metals/Minerals
None stated.
Geology/Mineralisation
Gold occurs in auriferous quartz-sulphide veins and is associated with disseminated sulphide minerals (pyrite and arsenopyrite) within the sedimentary rocks. Minor amounts of pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena have been recorded.
Sheeted and stockwork quartz-carbonate vein mineralisation and disseminated mineralisation occur subparallel to and cross-cut stratigraphy, which appears to include local quartz and sericite alteration overprinting primary sedimentary features.
Reserves
Total proven and probable mineral reserves as at December 31, 2020, were estimated at 84-million tonnes grading 1.7 g/t gold.
Resources
Total mineral resources as at December 31, 2020, were estimated at 280-million tonnes grading 1.6 g/t gold.
Mining Method
Conventional truck-and-shovel openpit operation.
Major Infrastructure and Equipment
Ore is processed through gravity concentration and flotation, as well as carbon-in-leach techniques.
Prospects
Further expansion of the Verninskoye mill to 3.5-million tonnes is under way, and Ployus is aiming to complete the project in 2021.
