KALGOORLIE (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Newcrest Mining on Thursday announced precautionary measures at its Cadia operation, in New South Wales, but said that it would not impact production.

The company told shareholders that activities were under way to remediate instability identified in a ventilation rise at the Cadia mine, but that all surface activities remained operational.

Significant surface stockpiles were also available for processing well into the September quarter.

Underground mining has been temporarily suspended and is expected to restart in the coming weeks, once works to safely backfill the rise have been completed.
