Trade union UASA on October 12 said it had entered into a three-year wage agreement with gold producer DRDGold.

Under the terms of the agreement, category four and five workers will receive a 9.5% increase over three years, while their living-out allowances will increase by R150 to R3 150 a month.

Further, category 10 to 15 workers will receive a 6.5% increase or consumer price inflation, whichever is greater, each year over three years and category six to nine employees an 8% increase each year over three years, the union said.

"UASA is proud that the productive and positive wage negotiations with DRDGold were concluded to the benefit of our members employed at the mine.

"UASA is hopeful that the agreed-upon wage increase will contribute positively towards the livelihood of our members and all workers employed within the entity," it noted.
