JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Founder of the former TWP and current WorleyParsonsTWP sub-Saharan Africa global mining and precious metals executive director Nigel Townshend on Thursday announced that he would step down from his day-to-day involvement in the company.

Townshend established TWP, which was acquired by global engineering and project management company WorleyParsons and renamed WorleyParsonsTWP in March, in 1982.

“I am proud of the legacy I leave and am confident that WorleyParsonsTWP will continue to prosper under the helm of WorleyParsons, a recognised global leader in project delivery,” Townshend said, adding that he would be taking time off to pursue personal objectives, while also making himself available to mentor WorleyParsonsTWP’s enterprise development companies.

Meanwhile, the integration process of TWP with WorleyParsons was well under way, with full alignment of the local operations with WorleyParsons’ global systems and processes nearing completion, the company stated.

Combining both companies’ expertise, the Johannesburg hub has become WorleyParsons’ minerals, metals and chemicals project delivery centre in sub-Saharan Africa to enhance WorleyParsons’ pit-to-port offering, and to provide technical and project delivery support to projects undertaken by WorleyParsons across the world.
