TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Trevali Mining on Thursday declared commercial production at its Santander zinc/lead/silver mine, in Peru.

The Vancouver-based company started commissioning the project in the third quarter of 2013, with mill throughput ramping up to its current nameplate capacity of 2 000 t/d.

Trevali said that it would continue to optimise operations at Santander to further boost efficiencies, recovery rates and metal concentrate production.

As of the end of last month, the mill had processed about 310 000 t of feed to produce about 22 000 t of zinc concentrates and 7 000 t of lead/silver concentrates.

The company is also advancing the Caribou mining and mill complex, in New Brunswick, with a preliminary economic assessment scheduled to be completed this quarter.

Trevali shares eased 0.87% to $1.14 Thursday.
