GABORONE (miningweekly.com) – Botswana is in consultation with the Geological Survey of Finland in the restructuring of its geoscience, which forms part of its developmental planning.

“By August, a team of scientists from Finland will come over to Botswana to map things out,” Tiyapo Ngwisanyi of the Botswana Geoscience Institute told the Botswana Resource Sector Conference on Tuesday.

The restructuring of Botswana’s geological survey is taking place as part of National Development Plan 10.

Ngwisanyi reported that feedback from a survey conducted included preparedness to pay more for a better service delivered online rather than having physically to travel to Lobatse to get the information.

“Going forwards, we’re going to put strategies in place for you to view our geology anywhere in the world,” he said.

Exploration licensing has been moved to the Department of Mines.
