PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Copper miner Tiger Resources has reported a maiden inferred mineral resource at the Judeira deposit, within its Kipoi project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The miner said on Tuesday that the Judeira deposit was now estimated to host about 6.1-million tonnes, grading 1.2% copper, for 71 000 t of contained copper.

“The maiden resource estimate for Judeira is an important step in increasing the resource available to process at our solvent-extraction and electrowinning plant at Kipoi, with Judeira located only 6 km from the plant,” said Tiger MD Brad Marwood.

The deposit extends over 2 200 m, with strong surface mineralisation. The resource estimate addressed only 1 600 m of the mineralised trend.

“We have always been confident of adding to our primary resource at Kipoi Central, and the addition of a maiden inferred mineral resource at Judeira adds to those we have already delineated at Kipoi North and Kileba, and at the Sase Central deposit at our 100%-owned Lupoto project,” said Marwood.

He noted that there was also further scope to add to the Judeira resource, with Tiger expected to undertake further drilling to increase confidence and to move the resource to the indicated category.
