Telescopic belt conveyor to be introduced to industry

4th October 2019

Materials handling equipment specialist BLT WORLD has decided to introduce telescopic belt conveyors, suitable for stacking bulk materials, to the mining industry.

According to BLT WORLD, the use of radial telescopic conveyors is the most efficient method to stockpile material, as this system enables “huge” stockpiles with no segregation.

“Our research shows that these telescopic conveyors offer about 30% more stockpile capacity on the same footprint when stockpiling in a trapezoidal shape, compared with the use of standard conveyors,” says BLT WORLD MD Ken Mouritzen.

However, he highlights that stockpiling conveyors are designed to refrain from separating material in stockpiles.

Standard features of this system include an automatic stockpiling programme, with a stockpiling capacity up to 1 500 t/h, widths of 650 mm, 800 mm, 1 000 mm and 1 200 mm, electric drivers and double planetary gears to efficiently power radial movement.

Optional equipment includes a remote-control facility, metal heavy-duty tracks, a diesel generator, hydraulic drives, an aspiration system and belt cover.

These advanced conveyor belt systems are available throughout Africa from BLT WORLD, which provides assessment and solutions services to all industrial sectors, when planning and implementing bulk handling projects. The technical advisory and support service teams enhance the performance of every system.

“We have secured the exclusive supply, service and distribution agreements with some of the world’s most respected manufacturers of quality branded materials handling equipment.”

Close partnerships with leading manufacturers enable the BLT WORLD team to offer its global customer-base the latest equipment and advanced heavy lift trends, says Mouritzen.

He adds that BLT WORLD’s commitment to every customer, which encompasses a technical advisory, parts and maintenance service. Selection of the correct equipment ensures cost efficiency, high productivity and enhanced safety.

“We support our range of new and reconditioned machines with a rental option and also offer a maintenance programme and practical operator training, to ensure optimum performance and extended service life of every machine.”

BLT WORLD’s “extensive” portfolio of bulk handling equipment also includes material feeders, link conveyors and eco- hoppers, as well as mobile shiploaders. The company also distributes trommel screens and apron feeders for mineral processing and recycling applications, Mouritzen concludes.
