PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed SRG Global has been awarded a near A$55-million infrastructure contract from iron-ore major Fortescue Metals at its Eliwana mine.

The project will involve the construction of a 21-km haul road at the existing mine site, and is expected to start in March this year, with the contract lasting an estimated nine months.

“We are pleased to extend our longstanding relationship with Fortescue and look forward to delivering these works for Fortescue in addition to the asset maintenance works we are performing across a number of Fortescue’s site locations,” said SRG MD David Macgeorge.

The $1.25-billion Eliwana mine and rail project consists of a new 30-million-tonne-a-year dry ore processing facility and infrastructure and a 143-km rail line.
