South Africans breathed a sigh of relief on June 29 when the National Energy Regulator of South Africa, or Nersa, rejected Eskom’s application for a further 2015/16 tariff hike in addition to the 12.69% already granted for the year. However, the door has been left open for another approach, so we should probably enjoy the reprieve while it lasts – in between load-shedding episodes, that is.
