A new comparative analysis by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research shows that the costs associated with wind and solar photovoltaic plants in South Africa are now materially below the costs of all other generation options, including coal. It is a development that will surely have to be taken into account as the new Integrated Resource Plan is finalised.
