The South African Communications Forum (SACF) Media Release on the passing of South Africa’s Former President, national figure, anti-apartheid icon and international legend, Mr. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

The SACF wishes to extend its condolences to the family of Mr. Nelson Mandela (“Mandela”), the people of South Africa and all people across the world whose lives this icon and legend touched and changed their lives greatly.

Although it is difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, let us, the people of South Africa and the world at large, look back in memory for comfort and inspiration and hold on to those memories to be guided by them during this time of sadness. As South Africans and the world comprehend this profound loss, let us cry knowing each tear is a note of love and gratitude rising to Mandela’s spirit for all the remarkable things he has done for us.

In endorsing, protecting and promoting the values Mandela stood for, we need to have hope, have faith and take comfort in the everlasting teachings and lessons conveyed by Mandela while he still had life.

The SACF believes as Mandela said “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”  Mandela showed us with his life the power of living positively can make the impossible possible in our own lives as well and in creating a better life for all.

Above all, Mandela believed that living is not just about doing for yourself, but what you do for others as well. With that said, the legacy and wisdom Mandela leaves behind is an excellent pillar and foundation of the moral fiber of our society in dealing with economic and social development issues that face us every day in life.

The SACF extends its deepest condolences to the Mandela family.
