Rio Tinto Exploration Canada has started a first exploration programme for lithium mineralisation on Midland Exploration’s Mythril area and Galinée projects in the Eeyou Itschee James Bay region of Quebec.
The projects have been under an option joint venture agreement with Rio Tinto since June.
The Eeyou Istchee James Bay region is currently the focus of an exploration rush for lithium pegmatites. The Mythril regional projects are located between 12 km and 50 km of lithium pegmatites discovered on Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette project.
The Mythril regional projects consist of 730 claims totalling 370.1 km2. The Galinée project is located about 4 km east of the lithium pegmatites discovered on Winsome Resources’ Adina project. The Galinée project consists of 54 claims totalling 27.7 km2.
